Capoeira - Anthony Greenwood Photography

Capoeira – Anthony Greenwood Photography

As a start to my Movement Photography Project I invited Joshua Chamada of CDOCornwall to be photographed. Josh practices and teaches the Brazilian martial art that is Capoeira, for students in Falmouth, Cornwall.  Capoeira’s origins are vague but it is believed it was started by African slaves sent to South America in the 16th Century. It is known for it’s quick and complex moves, using mainly power, speed, and leverage for leg sweeps. It makes a fantastic photographic opportunity to capture the human form in mid air, as you can see he can effortlessly get himself airborne and inverted.

I am on the look out for other participants for the project, I welcome messages from interested dancers, athletes, free runners… please email ag@anthony-greenwood.com.
